Mary Shelley’s horror classic Frankenstein was written during an emotionally trying time in her life. It turned out to be a masterpiece of creative horror that told the tale of a mad scientist who cobbled together a “Monster” from the parts of dead people and shocked it back to life with the magical electricity that was the fresh technology of the day. Of course, the head of Dr. Frankenstein’s monster is one of the hottest props on Halloween and in science fiction stories.

Pale Like Death Yet Still Life Like

A lot of times, you see Frankenstein’s “Monster” depicted as a big dude with a flat top head, like Herman Munster. For most people in the 21st Century, this is wholly unbelievable. Though had the tale of Dr. Frankenstein’s creation been real, the “Monster” would have had a very human looking head shape and face.
