The start of World War Two saw the United States suffering a great deal of losses to the Empire of Japan. While the bombing of Pearl Harbor was historically the most well known, there were a lot of other defeats suffered in the early days. This includes Douglas McArthur having to leave the Philippines vowing “I Shall Return.” In time the United States did manage to reclaim their lost territories and holding. When they did it was with the help of Marine Corps soldiers who made daring beach invasions.
A lot of the heroic Marine soldiers who helped take back the Pacific Islands from the Empire of Japan, were transferred back to the United States to help serve as icons in hopes of encouraging people to invest in more War Bonds. When they did make appearances at upscale dinner parties, special events and parades, they did so in uniform sporting an envelope hat like this one. This hat is one size fits most for adults.
