Roman soldiers and gladiators used functional pieces of armor like gauntlets, arm guards and shin guards to help protect vital parts of their bodies. While these styles of armor and the gladiatorial lifestyle that went with them have faded into history, the look still remains iconic all these centuries later.
These arm guards are replicas from the Roman Republic era around the time Julius Caesar started his destined rise to power. When he cast the die and crossed the Rubicon, many of the men in the legion that followed him were wearing these, as were the gladiators who later celebrated his victory for decades afterward. They are the perfect prop for any Roman soldier or gladiator costume.
