So, it’s no wonder why people show up at costume parties dressed as legionnaires. Of course, the Roman Pilum Spear is one of the most memorable of all ancient weapons. It could be used in hand to hand melee or thrown like an oversized javelin.

A Replica Pilum

This is a very accurate replica of the Roman pilum spear. It measures 47-inches long and even has a semi-metallic tip, though there is a ring fused into the point to keep you from accidentally puncturing yourself or others. If you are planning to use it at a medieval fair or renaissance festival you may need to secure it with a peace knot. Though it’s also perfect for stage performances where authenticity counts.
