During the Black Death and other plagues of the Middle Ages physicians known as plague doctors were called in to administer to the sick and dying people of cities and towns. These were people who saw what the plague could do first hand and were deathly afraid of it getting them. So, they did everything they could to protect themselves from the stench of death. This included creating their own type of gas mask.
While the original plague doctor’s mask was a functional thing with a horrific look and feel, someone was wise enough to take the concept and reinvent it with a 21st Century club look. The white faux leather really pops and then it stuns with spikes and studs that accent the mask in all the right places. For added effect, there are rivets around the eye goggles and cogs festooned on the crest, which gives it a steampunk-friendly theme.
