Historically the Texas Rangers were a loosely organized military force that policed the burgeoning republic of Texas, from the 1830s to their eventual merger with the state highway patrol in 1935. The first Texas Rangers were minutemen hired by settlers to help protect them against attacks from Native Americans and Caucasian bandits. They became such an icon of Texas and the wild west that their iconic star inside a circle badge is still being used by cosplayers and historical re-enactors from sea to shining sea.
If you ask any passionate cosplayer, they will tell you that the right accessories make all the difference when creating a truly authentic-looking costume. That’s especially true of wild west costumes, where a Western Ranger Badge like this one made all the difference between a Texas Ranger, an outlaw or a cowboy.
